🍽️HOW TO MAKE

These are so simple and so easy you really don’t even need steps, however some people ask if the peanuts need to be “raw green peanuts” or “raw peanuts” and either will work. I can’t find raw green peanuts in my area, but I did find the raw peanuts in the shell at Walmart in the nut section.

COOKING STEPS

Step 1
Wash peanuts with cold water.  Place in crockpot or slow cooker.   Cover with water and add salt.

Step 2
Cook on high for 5 to 6 hours or low 10 hours.

⭐TIP

You may want to cook the longer, it really is personal preference but this is the amount of time that works well for us. If you want the softer, then cook them longer, it you like them with a little more crunch, cook them less time.

RECIPE VARIATIONS

There are many different seasonings you can add to the water, creole, cajun, garlic, liquid smoke, Old Bay, you have a seasoning mixture you love.. try it! This is a versatile recipe and definitely one you can play around with.

❓FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you eat boiled peanuts hot or cold?

This is a personal preference, but we usually eat them warm when we first make them and then cold the next day. We find they are delicious either way.

Can I use roasted peanuts to make boil peanuts?

No you cannot. Roasted peanuts lack the right moisture content. You just use raw or green peanuts for boiling.

STORING AND REHEATING

Store peanuts in brine in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They must be in the refrigerator with the moisture they will mold. If you like them warm, just heat them up in the microwave or put them back in the crock pot with the brine and turn the on low for a bit.

Fried Potato Cakes

These potato cakes are a wonderful appetizer. Great way to enjoy leftover mashed potatoes.

Dill Pickle Cheese Ball

If you love pickles you will love this cheese ball. It’s so easy to make and a great appetizer.

SERVING SIZE

This is a little tricky, because these are a snack item, but I would say about 5-6 servings. Of course if someone can eat a pound of peanuts themselves.. this would be 2 servings. HA!
